The church officially re-opened on Sunday, August 2, 2020 with approximately 15 leaders and members in attendance. There have been several changes made in keeping with the CDC, state and city requirements for proper safety protocol during COVID-19. Below there are guidelines of what to expect on returning to Sunday worship service at GMCC. Only Sunday worship services are being held at this time. There will be no nursery services or Junior Church available. All other services and Bible studies will continue to be virtual until further notice. It is strongly recommended that members and guests who have underlying health concerns and seniors do not attend service in person. We will continue to stream our services live for those that cannot attend.

GMCC WORSHIP GUIDELINES FOR RE-OPENING

Please read these guidelines to familiarize your self with our procedures to promote the safety and well being of everyone. 

1. Entry and Exit to the church will be via the ramp door.

2. A brief screening and Handless temperatures will be checked before entering the sanctuary.

3. Members, guests, children 2 years of age and all adults must wear masks to enter the church and at all times when in the building.

4. If available, the church will provide a mask to anyone who does not have one.

5. Members and guest must sit in assigned and designated seats to ensure social distancing of 6’ a part. Please cooperate with the ushers and church leaders.

6. Worship will be expressive and high, we will lift up holy hands, but we will not sing to ensure micro molecules are not projected near others.

7. Only members from the same household may sit together

8. We ask that everyone follow the posted traffic patterns to ensure social distancing and a safe traffic flow.

9. We will not hold hands or physically touch or greet one another i.e. hugging and handshaking. This is to maintain social distancing and not spreading the virus in the event someone is asymptomatic.

10. Members and guest must sit at least 25’ from the pulpit

11. If more than one person is in the pulpit at the same time, they must maintain a distance of 10’ from one another.

12. Church will keep certain spaces/rooms locked to reduce the sharing of common spaces and need for cleaning.

13. We ask that everyone follow safety guidelines that will be posted.

14. We ask that members not congregate for long periods of time and that maintain 6’ distance for safety of everyone.

15. Bathrooms will be cleaned after each service.

16. If you are sick, not feeling well, have a cough, fever, or difficulty breathing please seek medical attention early and do not come to church. We will continue to stream our services live for those that cannot attend.

GMCC leadership will continue to review and evaluate these procedures as we hear from God and we learn to navigate in the midst of this pandemic.

GMCC leadership will continue to review and evaluate the following four key areas as we hear from God and we learn to navigate in the midst of this pandemic.

Four key areas –

·      Practical procedures and policies.

·      Finances. Budget adjustments and contingency plans.

·      Ministry models. Almost all of them have been disrupted.

·      Mission strategy. Think redemptive: spiritual (reconciliation to God), social (reconciliation to others), and cultural (reconciliation to what we do in the world and how we do it).

·      Timeframes: Many predict this is going to be a yearlong challenge.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED TO REOPEN THE CHURCH BUILDING

We are in need of several people between July 22 – 31st who are willing to help prepare the church to reopen for worship service

·      4 – 6 men are needed to help remove debris and thoroughly clean Buttry Hall, the handicap bathroom and back stairs.

·      6 – 8 People are needed to clean the front foyers, conference room, mailroom and stair cases

·      6-8 people are needed to clean the downstairs bathroom, downstairs hall, room and kitchen.

·      6-8 people are needed to clean the sanctuary, pulpit, and balcony.

·      4-6 people willing to post/hang signs and social distance markers.

GMCC REMAINING CLOSED

Please be advised that our church door will remain closed as we prayerfully plan a process and procedures that promote the safety and well being of everyone. Therefore, we will continue to fellowship, pray, testify and teach virtually for now. Pastor Bruce and the GMCC leadership will be notifying you of an all-church virtual meeting to share the results of the survey and plan for our return. Until then we look forward to advancing the work of Christ through our radio, TV and social media network.
